How to find a vaccine appointment, or help a senior master the booking website

2021 has made being a computer whiz a matter of life and death. Shame on America for asking seniors to beta test bad vaccine logistics software.

We designed this guide to help. There are ways to get assistance if you need it, and strategies to conquer the process if you’re persistent.

The short supply of vaccine is only partly to blame for our current chaos. It’s a case study in how more technology is not always the answer.

There are just too many decentralized, overlapping vaccine websites. State governments created systems, many ignoring basics like inventory alerts we’ve come to

COVID-19 vaccine mass sites to open in Georgia with website for appointments | Health

Georgia officials have launched a new website to pre-register for COVID-19 vaccine appointments and are poised to open four mass vaccination sites in different parts of the state, Gov. Brian Kemp announced Thursday.

The governor’s update came as more than 1.6 million vaccines have been given to eligible Georgians so far, including roughly 500,000 second doses, according to state Department of Public Health data.

Baby boomers express frustration and disappointment with state’s vaccine appointment website

Like many baby boomers across the state, Yunker was unable to access the site and schedule an appointment. Instead, she found herself staring at a white screen anchored by an orange octopus-like logo with a question mark floating above its head.

Yunker described the experience as “beyond frustrating.”

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced the change of heart in a news conference Wednesday, saying state officials concluded it would be too hard to combine existing scheduling systems and were trying to avoid disruptions. The state will instead focus on bolstering its current systems. Just last week, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and members of his administration complained about significant glitches in that

Computer Science Students Create Website to Show COVID-19 Vaccine Availability | Pittwire

Courtney Sheridan’s grandmother received her first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in late January, but only after a lengthy time on a waitlist.

“She put her name on as many waitlists as she could find. We have family in New Jersey as well, so she even looked at options outside of Pennsylvania,” said Sheridan, a first-year computer science student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Computing and Information. “She said she was much relieved and will be glad when the second dose is on board. She also felt fortunate to be able to get the vaccine.”

Rage Quit: Mass. Residents Furious Over State’s Faulty Vaccine Websites

For an estimated million Massachusetts residents who had been waiting for their turn to book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment, their time had finally come.

With the promise of openings going live at 8 a.m. Thursday, many of these newly eligible residents threw themselves at the state’s vaccine registration sites to try to secure an appointment. For hours. And hours. And hours.

Two critical state websites — one listing clinics, pharmacies and vaccine sites and their availability, and one where residents can find signup pages or register for appointments at mass vaccination sites — splintered under the heavy traffic. All morning,
